COMPLACENT COLT SELLS FOR $400,000

It was a highlight moment for Complacent with one of his offspring selling for $400,000 at the Inglis Ready to Race sale. The one-day sale held at the Riverside complex catalogued 289 2 year-olds and it was a sale to remember for Complacent where he achieved his highest ever sale through an auction eclipsing his previous record of $170,000.

The record price of $400,000 was the fifth highest of the sale and a whopping 80 times Complacent’s service fee that year. A slick breeze up in the time of 10.75 caught the eye of a number of buyers which ensured there was fierce competition to land the promising colt. Purchased by Golden River (as agents) for a Hong Kong buyer, the Complacent colt was prepared by Hannover Lodge.

An astute pin hook by the team at Hannover Lodge, they purchased the Complacent colt for $105,000 at the 2022 Inglis Melbourne Premier sale. From a fantastic female family, he is out of the Thunder Gulch mare Thunderchine making him a half-brother to the Gr.2 winner Thunder Lady. A decorated family in the Australian stud book, he also hails from the same family as Gr.1 winners Levendi and Tully Thunder.

“It was a massive result for Complacent, it just goes to show that good looking masculine colts make their money in the sale ring” said Stud Master Simms Davison

“As a yearling he was my stand out colt that year, just an absolute belter. The team at Inglis really loved him when they inspected him and he made good money at the Melbourne Sale”

Complacent has sired 10 winners in Australia from only 15 starters and is developing a strong reputation for producing quality stayers. His leading progeny include the stakes performed Cork, Comme Belle Fille, Storm King, and promising young stayer Casual Connection.
